Kanonkop and Venus Pool Hike - Cape Point



The hike begins at the Buffelsfontein Visitor Centre in Cape Point and heads toward Paulsberg. After crossing Bordjiesrif Rd, the path gradually ascends towards Kanonkop. From there, it descends relatively steeply to the Booi se Skerm Parking on Black Rocks Rd. At the far end of the parking area, the trail heads left towards Venus Pool which is a natural tidal pool and a great spot for a swim and picnic. The return hike follows the tar road, with options to either take a right turn on the uphill section of the road to rejoin the original path or continue to the crossing of Bordjiesrif Rd to pick up the trail again.

Route Notes: This is an easily followed hiking trail mostly on a sandy path. Downhill section is rocky but not challenging.

Venus Pool
Venus Pool on the coast near Booi se Skerm is a beautiful, natural tidal pool in Cape Point, surrounded by terraces of flat rocks. 

The shallow pool is filled with fish, sea urchins, anemones, and starfish, making it perfect for snorkelling. 

To reach the pool, head north from the Booi se Skerm parking either along the old tar road or via the coastal path. After about 15 min you will reach a short down path and steps to the rock terraces.
