Alfie’s Path and the Friends of Table Mountain
Alfie’s Path, which runs from Blackburn Ravine above Chapman’s Peak Drive across the Hout Bay Mountains toward Constantia, is named after Alf Morris, the late mountaineer, teacher, and former leader of the Wynberg Boys’ High School Mountain Club.

Alf and his dedicated team of helpers spent countless hours working on the mountain around Vlakkenberg, building a beautiful logged path, removing invasive species, and planting Silver Trees—nurtured from seeds donated by Kirstenbosch and grown in his Plumstead garden. Today, trail maintenance and alien clearing are ongoing efforts, with local neighbourhood groups contributing to the preservation of the mountain.

In partnership with SANParks, the Friends of Table Mountain have established a Trail Apostles team to restore and maintain degraded paths.

For more information about their work in nature conservation, trail maintenance, and safety on the mountain, visit the Friends of Table Mountain Website.
