Camel Rock - Constantia Nek

The Camel Rock hike from Constantia Corner is a challenging but exciting hike with some easy scrambling, beautiful fynbos, great views, unusual rock formations and a large dam at the top!
Start — From Constantia Nek parking, take the steep ascent to the left off the jeep track. At the next junction, turn left and curve behind the mountain to follow the ridge path up towards Camel Rock.
Ridge Section — The path continues along the ridge, passing through beautiful fynbos and unusual rock formations. Minimal scrambling is required with one short section of mild exposure. After reaching Camel Rock the path continues towards De Villiers Dam near the Overseers Cottage.
Descent — The return follows the concrete road, with optional shorter side paths along the way back to Constantia Nek parking.

The Overseers Cottage
Overview — The Overseer's Cottage, built over a century ago to oversee Table Mountain dam construction, offers a rustic yet comfortable self-catering retreat accommodating up to 16 people in two separate units. It is ideal for a unique Cape Town mountain experience.
Facilities — Off the grid with no electricity, but with running water, a gas fridge and stove and limited solar lighting. Braai facilities at the back and a large front deck.
Access — Reachable on foot from Constantia Corner via the jeep track or the adventurous Camel Rock path, with optional return through Disa Gorge. Porterage of luggage and supplies can be arranged through SANParks.
Nearby Hikes — The cottage is near De Villiers Dam and the Back Table, offering easy access to some of the most scenic hikes on Table Mountain and incredible city night views.

Fantastic hike. Great in summer as it is mostly in the shade in the morning.
